Filming of jump-outs to benefit Victorian punters

Racing Victoria (RV) has today announced that all Victorian Clubs will be required to provide publicly archived vision of their jump-outs from 1 October 2018.

Clubs with jump-outs published in the official industry publication Inside Racing, will be required to film each jump-out they conduct and publish the vision on their respective websites within 48 hours of completion.

Clubs will also be required to include information that appropriately identifies each horse competing in a jump-out and its trainer.

Victorian Clubs conduct between 350 and 400 sets of jump-outs annually as part of the industry’s training regime and they provide a valuable insight to punters on the future performance of horses.

The Victoria Racing Club (Flemington), Melbourne Racing Club (Caulfield, Mornington, Ladbrokes Park) and Ballarat Turf Club (Ballarat, Burrumbeet) currently offer the service for punters and owners for jump-outs conducted at their racetracks.

Today’s announcement will see that extended to all country racing tracks, including venues such as Cranbourne, Geelong, Bendigo and Pakenham.

RV Executive General Manager, Racing and Participant Wellbeing, Greg Carpenter, said, “Today’s announcement is an important step forward in providing greater transparency around jump-outs for punters who are integral to the funding of the industry.

“We have taken on board the feedback provided by punters and believe this decision will benefit punters by equipping them with more information to make their wagering decisions.

“Our primary focus in this initial stage is to ensure the Clubs are able to provide identifiable vision on their websites. Longer term, we’re keen to explore options to consolidate the vision from across the state and see the quality of vision continue to improve.

“We are currently working with Country Racing Victoria on the implementation of a system to assist Country Clubs in the online presentation of their jump-outs and to ensure they have the necessary training to deliver the service for punters.

“We are also committed to working with Racing.com to deliver all of the available video content, making it easily accessible via their platforms and ensuring that Racing.com remains the premier destination for punters to access Victorian form and video content.”
