Racing Victoria Stewards' Report - Billy Egan

Racing Victoria (RV) stewards today inquired into a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) that a urine sample provided by licensed jockey Billy Egan at Mildura races on 28 July 2018, contained a banned substance under Australian Rule of Racing (AR) 81B.

Mr Egan pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR81A(1)(a) having provided a sample of his urine, which was found on analysis to contain a banned substance.

Mr Egan’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of four months commencing 20 August 2018, the date on which he was stood down from all riding and horse handling duties, and concluding at midnight on 20 December 2018.

In assessing penalty, stewards took into account Mr Egan’s guilty plea, personal circumstances and forthright evidence.

Stewards ordered that Mr Egan is permitted to resume riding trackwork, official trials and horse handling once he has provided a sample that is clear of any banned substance under AR81B.
