Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have issued a charge against licensed trainer Matthew Leek for engaging in misconduct, improper conduct and/or unseemly behaviour in breach of the Australian Rules of Racing.
Charge One: AR 175(q) – Conduct which constitutes misconduct, improper conduct and/or unseemly behaviour
The Principal Racing Authority (or the Stewards exercising powers delegated to them) may penalise:
(q) Any person who in their opinion is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.
The Stewards allege that during the course of the jump-outs occurring at Pakenham Racecourse (Racing.com Park) on 27 June 2018, licensed Trainer John Gunning came to speak with Mr Leek in the tie up stalls, and that after a verbal exchange, Mr Leek punched and/or kneed Mr Gunning.
Mr Leek will appear before the RAD Board in relation to the above charge on a date to be fixed.
