Racing Victoria (RV) and the Seymour Racing Club (SRC) advise that the meeting scheduled for Thursday, 1 November at Seymour will be transferred to bet365 Geelong to allow for additional time for the track to improve.
RV and the SRC announced in August that a return to racing was scheduled for Thursday, 1 November, subject to the successful completion of jump-outs two weeks’ prior to that date.
Given the track has needed additional time to improve, a return to racing has been postponed to Thursday, 15 November, with jump-outs to be completed on Wednesday, 31 October.
RV Executive General Manager, Infrastructure and Club Support, Jamie McGuinness, said, “Following testing and analysis conducted by multiple agronomists in July and August, the SRC have since implemented an improvement plan over the past three months to help restore the condition of the track.
“While the track has shown improvement, RV and the SRC agree that it is in the best interests of the track to postpone a return to racing by a fortnight until Thursday, 15 November, to assist the surface so it’s in the best possible condition to resume racing.”
As a result of the transfer, there will be a change of distance to the following races at Geelong:
- Maiden Plate 1100m (was 1000m)
- BM58 Handicap 1500m (was 1600m)
Nominations for the Geelong meeting close at 12 noon on Monday, 29 October and acceptances will be taken at 9am on Tuesday, 30 October.
