RV Stewards' Report - Adam Hickey

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards today concluded their inquiry into the training bona fides of the horse Kilmoremoy.

Trainer Smiley Chan and registered lessee Adam Hickey were advised that, although the Stewards had some concerns with the arrangements pertaining to the training of the horse, the Stewards would not proceed further with the matter.

Subsequently Mr Hickey plead guilty to a charge or breaching AR175(j) in that during a phone call made by himself to a Steward on the morning of Tuesday, 20 November 2018 regarding the training bona fides of Kilmoremoy, he used improper and/or insulting language towards that Steward on multiple occasions.

Mr Hickey was disqualified for a period of six months for his conduct with the period of disqualification to conclude at midnight on Thursday, 6 June 2019.

In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his plea, remorse for his actions and his record in the industry.

Furthermore, Mr Hickey plead guilty to a charge of improper conduct under AR175(q), in that between 26 September 2018 and 19 November 2018, he sent four messages via Facebook to a registered stablehand that were threatening and abusive.

Acting under LR6C(2A) where he indicated he would plead guilty to the charge, Stewards fined Mr Hickey $500. As Mr Hickey had again breached the rules relative to his conduct, the suspended $500 portion of a fine for a previous misconduct matter was now effected meaning the total fine payable is $1000.
