Racing Victoria (RV) extends its condolences to the family and friends of John Marshall on the passing of a much-respected member of the Australian racing family.
The Melbourne Cup-winning jockey, who rode Rogan Josh to victory in 1999, passed away at aged 60 after a battle with cancer.
Executive General Manager, Racing and Participant Wellbeing, Greg Carpenter said, “John was a highly-respected member of the racing industry and we are all deeply saddened to hear of his passing.
“John will be remembered as a champion jockey but more importantly as an incredibly humble and respected individual.
“On behalf of Racing Victoria, I extend our sincere condolences to John’s family and many friends on the sad passing of a valued member of our industry.”
