Race times adjusted due to hot weather forecast

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise of changes to race times at Yarra Valley tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 January and Kyneton on Wednesday, 16 January due to hot weather forecast for the regions.

With temperatures expected to reach 39 degrees at Yarra Valley tomorrow, race times have been brought forward by one hour, with the first race set to run at 11.20am and the meeting to conclude with the final race at 3pm.

Race times have also been brought forward at Kyneton on Wednesday to avoid the hottest part of the day, with temperatures expected to reach 41 degrees. The first race is scheduled for 11am, with the concluding race due at 2.30pm.

RV will, however, continue to monitor the forecast for Kyneton and will make a final decision tomorrow on whether the meeting proceeds.

RV’s Procedure for Racing in Hot Weather Policy is enacted at all meetings where hot weather conditions are forecast to ensure the health and wellbeing of horses and participants.

Large containers of ice water will be made available at appropriate locations around the racecourse, with horses required in the mounting yard for reduced periods of time.
