Seymour meeting transferred to Echuca

Racing Victoria (RV) and the Seymour Racing Club (SRC) advise that the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 12 March at Seymour will be transferred to Echuca to allow the track additional time to recover from summer renovation works.

As a result, Echuca will host their Cup meeting on Sunday, 10 March before backing up two days later to host the transferred meeting.

Seymour returned to racing on 19 February, following a scheduled six-week track renovation, where the track performed satisfactorily.

During yesterday’s meeting, the track’s second since its renovation, jockeys reported that it was producing additional kickback.  As such the view of SRC and RV is that next week’s meeting should be transferred to assist with its recovery.

SRC is continuing to monitor the track and expect it will improve appropriately for the next scheduled meeting to proceed on Wednesday, 27 March.

Nominations for Tuesday’s meeting, which originally closed at 12noon today, will be reopened and will now close at 10am tomorrow, Thursday, 7 March and acceptances will be taken at 11am on Friday, 8 March.

As a result of the transfer, the 2100m Maiden Plate has been shortened to 2000m.
