Ballarat Synthetic

Sportsbet-Ballarat turf meeting transferred to synthetic track

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the Ballarat meeting scheduled on Sunday, 12 May will be transferred from the turf to the synthetic track.

The track received 69mm of rain over the past 24 hours and as such the turf surface was deemed unsuitable for racing on Sunday.

The decision means the new synthetic track at Ballarat will come into operation five days earlier than planned, with the official opening scheduled for Friday, 17 May.

As a result of the transfer, all scratchings will be reinstated and there will be a change of distance to four of the eight races (details below).

The field size of race 8 has also been adjusted due to the reduced field size limit on the synthetic track. All other fields, prizemoney and race times remain unchanged.
