Stewards Report- Patrick Ryan Jnr

Racing Victoria Stewards have received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming a positive swab has been provided by the Patrick Ryan Jnr-trained racehorse, John Monash.

The report relates to a blood sample taken from John Monash which was brought to the Warrnambool Racecourse on 18 March 2019, to engage in a Steeple Trial for the purpose of obtaining a permit to start in a Steeplechase race.

RASL reported that the sample contained Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) which is a prohibited substance in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.

On Wednesday 1 May 2019, RV Stewards initially informed Mr Ryan Jnr of the irregularity.

RV Stewards today advised Mr Ryan Jnr of the confirmatory findings and that they are continuing their investigation.
