Racing Victoria (RV) has today announced a change to the race programs for the meetings at Sportsbet-Ballarat on Tuesday, 18 June and Warrnambool on Thursday, 20 June.
The three jumps races scheduled alongside five synthetic races at Ballarat have been transferred to Warrnambool.
With Ballarat hosting a nine-race turf meeting just two days prior on Sunday, 16 June, the Ballarat Turf Club is keen to protect its racing surface which has been impacted by heavy rainfall in recent weeks.
Parts of the turf track underwent renovation during the construction of the Ballarat synthetic track this season. As a result, sections shortly after the winning post and at the 1700-metre mark are wetter than other areas of the course.
To accommodate the transfer of the jumps races, the Maiden Plate (1300m) which had been scheduled at Warrnambool will now be run over 1200m on the synthetic track at Ballarat on 18 June and be joined by two new races - a 2YO Maiden Plate (1200m) and a 3YO Maiden Plate (1400m).
The Warrnambool meeting on 20 June will now comprise 10 races, with the Maiden Hurdle (3200m), the Open Hurdle (3200m) and the Maiden Steeplechase (3450m) complementing seven flat races.
