Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming that a prohibited substance has been detected in a urine sample collected from the Kylie Vella trained racehorse Admiral’s Joker.
The report relates to a post-race urine sample taken from Admiral’s Joker after the gelding won the Heritage Finance Handicap over 1800 metres at Flemington Racecourse on 25 May 2019.
RASL reported that the urine sample was shown to contain Diclofenac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) which is a prohibited substance in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.
The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory also reported that it had detected Diclofenac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) within the reserve portion of the urine sample.
RV Stewards initially informed Ms Vella of the irregularity on 5 July 2019, and today advised her of the confirmatory findings. RV Stewards are continuing their investigation.
