Ten horses have the chance to share in $2 million worth of bonuses tomorrow at Flemington as three lucrative Spring Racing Carnival series reach their finale.
Highly rated South Australian colt Dalasan has the chance to atone for his last start fifth as favourite in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) by claiming a $1 million bonus on offer for three-year-old milers.
The Leon MacDonald and Andrew Gluyas entry is one three horses that can secure the rich Carbine Bonus by winning the $500,000 Group 3 Network 10 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at 1pm (AEDT).
The others vying for the bonus are Groundswell (Anthony Freedman) and Conqueror (David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig) who finished third and sixth respectively in the Caulfield Guineas.
The trio are eligible having contested either the MSC Signs Stutt Stakes (1600m) or Ladbrokes Guineas Prelude (1400m) on the final weekend in September, before lining up in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas three weeks ago.
Five horses have the chance to secure the $500,000 Cantala Bonus on offer for open milers after placing in either the Group 1 Lamaro’s Hotel South Melbourne Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on 12 October or the Group 2 Schweppes Crystal Mile at The Valley last Saturday.
Fierce Impact (Matthew Smith), Night’s Watch (Chris Waller), UK raider Chief Ironside (David Menuisier), Cliff’s Edge (Ciaron Maher and David Eustace) and defending champion Best Of Days (James Cummings) are those eligible to claim the bonus if victorious in the $2 million Group 1 Kennedy Cantala (1600m) at 4.35pm (AEDT).
The remaining $500,000 bonus is on offer for any three-year-old that placed in the $500,000 Group 3 Catanach’s Jewellers Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on 16 October and wins the $1.5 million Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at 3pm (AEDT) tomorrow.
With Blue Sapphire winner Anaheed absent after placing against open company in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m) last weekend at The Valley, the two minor placegetters, fillies Li’l Kontra (Ryan Balfour) and Brooklyn Hustle (Jason Warren), are those with the Coolmore Bonus in sight.
Each of the bonuses will be split 85% to the owner, 10% to the trainer and 5% to tomorrow’s winning jockey if claimed.
