VBA price to be displayed for on-course punters

Racing Victoria (RV) and the Victorian Bookmakers Association (VBA) have joined forces to further promote the offering of on-course bookmakers to punters at metropolitan meetings.

The on-course screens at Flemington, Caulfield, The Valley and Sandown will now display the VBA Price which will be calculated by taking an average from a sample of the on-course rails bookmakers. It will be presented alongside the Victorian Official Price (VOP) which represents a view of the off-course betting markets.

The inclusion of the VBA price will provide on-course patrons with enhanced information to make their wagering decisions and to assist in sourcing the best available price on their chosen runner.

The VBA Price and the VOP will displayed on screens from 25 minutes prior to each Melbourne race. They will also be published on dynamicodds.com.

The VBA Price was successfully trialled at last Saturday’s Flemington twilight meeting and Wednesday’s Caulfield meeting and will come into official operation at tomorrow’s Flemington meeting.

RV and the VBA will continue to monitor the delivery of the VBA Price in the first half of 2020 and consider expanding it to feature country meetings.

Today’s announcement follows other enhancements announced in July which were targeted towards punters and Victorian racegoers.

These included the launch of Barrier Tech which provides real-time data and information on when horses are loaded into barriers and enhancements to the VOP methodology used to calculate the official starting price for each runner.
