Due to the severe weather predictions and bushfire alerts active in Central, East Gippsland, South West, North East and West and South Gippsland, Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to issue the following reminder to make sure trainers are fire ready and have implemented a fire action plan.
The fact is we all need to act or face the prospect of devastating consequences. This is especially true if we are also caring for our equine friends.

The radiant heat from a bushfire can kill you from 300 metres away, that a single ember can start a new fire from 40km away, or that fire can travel at 25km per hour.
We encourage you to prepare your properties, have a plan for yourself, your families and horses. If a fire does occur you want to be ready.
