Werribee meeting moved due to Friday's hot weather forecast

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the meeting scheduled at Werribee on Friday afternoon, 31 January has been moved to Monday, 3 February due to hot weather forecast for the region.

Following advice from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) that temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees on Friday afternoon, RV, in consultation with the Werribee Racing Club, the Australian Trainers Association (ATA) and the Victorian Jockey Association (VJA), has decided to transfer the race meeting to Monday to ensure the safety of horses and participants.

With the potential for a change in temperature on Friday night, the meeting at The Valley remains unchanged at this time. However, RV will continue to monitor the forecast and liaise with the BOM over the next 48 hours.

Trainers who have already accepted for the Werribee meeting are advised that their acceptance will remain valid for Monday’s meeting.

However, trainers not wishing to compete at the rescheduled meeting will need to cancel their acceptance prior to Friday’s 9am acceptance deadline. As a result of the transfer the acceptance time for Tuesday’s Warrnambool meeting has also been altered to 9:15am on Friday.

RV’s Procedure for Racing in Hot Weather Policy is enacted at all meetings where hot weather conditions are forecast to ensure the health and wellbeing of horses and participants.
