Melbourne to host 2022 Asian Racing Conference

Racing Victoria (RV) is excited to announce that Victoria has secured the hosting rights for the 2022 Asian Racing Conference.

The 39th edition of the event will take place in Melbourne for the first time and bring together racing’s world leaders during the Festival of Racing for a week-long conference from 15-20 February 2022.

Asian Racing Federation (ARF) Secretary General, Andrew Harding, made the announcement on Friday night (Saturday morning AEST) at the closing ceremony of this year’s conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

The event handover was made to RV Chairman, Brian Kruger on behalf of the Victorian racing industry, with Victoria’s Minister for Racing, the Hon. Martin Pakula and RV Chief Executive, Giles Thompson, in attendance.

Mr Kruger said it’s a great honour for Melbourne to host the conference for the first time since Australia became an official ARF member in 1961.

“We are delighted to be granted hosting rights for the 2022 Asian Racing Conference which is a glowing endorsement of Victoria’s standing in world racing.

“Hosting the conference is a responsibility we don’t take lightly, and we will be ensuring that the next two years are put to good use in building an exceptional event program.

“It will be a unique opportunity to bring global leaders in our sport to Melbourne to discuss, share and learn how we can continue to grow and drive racing forward globally.

“We also look forward to showcasing the very best of Victorian racing and the opportunity for the international delegates to experience our great state.

“In welcoming this announcement, I want to thank the Victorian Government and Melbourne Convention Bureau for their support in making this unique opportunity a reality.

“We look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues in world racing to Melbourne in 2022.”

The biennial conference is expecting to welcome 600 delegates from more than 30 countries and will cover an array of topics relevant to the future of racing.
