Cranbourne meeting transferred to Pakenham

Racing Victoria (RV) has this morning announced that the race meeting programmed for Cranbourne this Friday night, 27 March has been transferred to Racing.com Park Pakenham.

Cranbourne’s last meeting was abandoned on Tuesday, 17 March after two holes were detected in the track near the winning post following the running of the fourth race.

Remedial works have since been undertaken, however the process for all stakeholders to approve the track for the resumption of racing has not yet been completed.

As a result of the transfer, acceptances for the meeting have been pushed back from 9am this morning to 9:30am with acceptances for Warrnambool to now close at 9:45am and Bendigo at 10am. Please note there will be four minor distance changes required as follows:

  • 1300m Maiden Plate reduced to 1200m
  • 1300m Benchmark 64 Handicap reduced to 1200m
  • 1500m Benchmark 64 Handicap reduced to 1400m
  • 2060m Benchmark 70 Fillies & Mares Handicap reduced to 2000m

Further, due to the 1000m and 2000m starts not being lit at Racing.com Park Pakenham, Friday’s meeting will commence at the earlier time of 5pm and conclude at 8.30pm.

The transfer means that Racing.com Pakenham will host back-to-back night meetings this week with an eight-race card programmed on Thursday night.
