Seymour return deferred in current environment

Racing Victoria (RV) and the Seymour Racing Club (SRC) wish to advise that the race meetings scheduled at Seymour on Tuesday, 21 April and Monday, 4 May 2020 have been transferred to Ballarat and Echuca respectively.

The SRC have not conducted a meeting since November 2019 due to track renovations which involved resurfacing with kikuyu grass to provide greater year-round performance and stability.

Prior to the resumption of racing, Seymour must successfully complete a return to racing program which, among other things, includes the conduct of jump-outs with a minimum number of senior riders in attendance.

With the industry focus on administering biosecurity protocols for the safe continuation of racing and the current uncertainty owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been determined that Seymour’s return to racing program will be deferred by at least one month.

The track, which has progressed well since the renovation and has hosted local gallops over the past week, is next scheduled to race on Thursday, 21 May 2020.

The race programs for the transferred meetings at Ballarat and Echuca are as follows:
