Tomorrow's Warrnambool jumps trials moved to Wednesday

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that, owing to the impacts of wet weather, the jumps trials scheduled at Warrnambool tomorrow, Friday, 22 May, have been moved to Wednesday, 27 May and the number of trials reduced from 10 to four.

Warrnambool Racecourse has received 36mm of rain over the last 36 hours, with the inside grass track deemed unsafe to conduct the trials tomorrow following an inspection this afternoon.

At this time, it is unclear whether the inside grass track will have returned to a suitable condition to conduct any trials next Wednesday. The Warrnambool Racing Club have advised that, even with favourable conditions, the track will be unable to host the scheduled 10 trials.

Should the inside grass track not be suitable to conduct any trials on Wednesday, then they will be moved onto the course proper.

Given the circumstances with the inside grass track and taking into account that Warrnambool are scheduled to conduct a race meeting only six days later on Tuesday, 2 June, Wednesday’s jumps trials will now be restricted to horses needing their Q2 or Q20 qualification only. In addition, no schooling will be permitted.

The revised fields for the four jumps trials will be republished from the existing entries.

RV consulted with several other Racing Clubs to determine their suitability to conduct a full set of transferred jumps trials in the next week, however their individual racing and maintenance schedules meant they were unable to do so without compromising their own racing surface.
