Changes announced to Seymour winter racing program

Following the safe resumption of racing at Seymour last Thursday, Racing Victoria (RV) and the Seymour Racing Club (SRC) have agreed on a program of meetings throughout winter that will assist in the track’s ongoing development after major works.

The nine-race meeting was Seymour’s first since November 2019 when it underwent track renovations which involved full resurfacing with kikuyu grass and a recent oversow of rye grass to provide year-round performance and stability.

Following the satisfactory performance of the track and in the knowledge that it will only continue to improve, it’s been determined that the track will benefit most from conducting one meeting per month throughout winter.

As a result, the race meetings scheduled for Seymour on Thursday, 4 June and Sunday, 26 July have been transferred to Wangaratta and Echuca respectively.

The Seymour meetings scheduled for Thursday, 18 June and Tuesday, 14 July will be conducted as programmed.

Race dates for the 2020-21 racing season, commencing 1 August, have yet to be released by RV due to uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The race programs for the transferred meetings at Wangaratta and Echuca are as follows:
