COVID-19 Update – Green Team Trackwork

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise of the following update regarding the Green Team of jockeys who agreed to a prohibition on certain activities during the COVID-19 pandemic to help safeguard the industry in the advent of an outbreak.

Following consultation with the Victorian Jockeys Association (VJA), RV has expanded the protocols in place that allow the 20 Green Team members to compete in jump-outs to now include trackwork at the same six Approved Racecourses.

This expansion will be implemented in three stages:

  1. Effective from today, Tuesday, 9 June 2020, jockeys in the Green Team will be permitted to participate in trackwork conducted at Caulfield and Sandown.
  2. Effective from Friday, 12 June 2020, jockeys in the Green Team will be permitted to participate in trackwork at Flemington and Mornington.
  3. Effective from Monday, 15 June 2020, jockeys in the Green Team will be permitted to participate in trackwork at Cranbourne and Ballarat.

This decision was made in order to provide Green Team members with further training opportunities and to assist the riders in maintaining their weight and fitness.

The prohibition of jockeys in the Green Team riding trackwork at other training centres, racecourses and Licensed Premises remains in place until otherwise advised.

All other protocols in place for the safe continuation of racing and training in Victoria remain unchanged.

Host Clubs will continue to manage the conduct of trackwork and will implement biosecurity protocols measures to maintain the segregation of jockeys in the Green Team and Gold Team as occurs on raceday.
