Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that a new race meeting has been programmed at Donald next Saturday, 18 July 2020 to assist with ballot pressure and provide additional opportunities for lower rated horses.
As previously communicated when the July Mildura Carnival was consolidated from two days to one, RV retained the flexibility to program a new meeting at an appropriate location during July should one be required.
Following a review of the current program, it was determined that the owners and trainers of lower rated horses would benefit from a new meeting which has been placed on 18 July where there was only one other Victorian meeting scheduled (Flemington).
It has also become evident in the last month that the same horses are being balloted from Maiden races and Rating 58 races.
Therefore, in order to further assist trainers and owners with lower rated horses, RV will implement a “reverse ballot” for all races conducted at the Donald meeting.
All six races on the program will be balloted from the bottom up, meaning the horses normally balloted out first will, for these races, be the first horses included into the fields, however Maiden horses entered in the Rating 58 races will remain as the first horses excluded in these races.
If acceptances warrant the splitting of races, RVs Racing Operations team will run divisions up to a nine-race card.
