COVID-19 Update - Country meeting cancellations

Racing Victoria (RV), in consultation with Country Racing Victoria (CRV), wish to advise that three country meetings in November 2020 have been cancelled.

The picnic meeting at Yea on Saturday, 14 November has been cancelled, as has the tri-codes TAB meeting at Cranbourne later that evening. The picnic meeting at Healesville on Saturday, 21 November has also been cancelled.

In light of the announcement, the start of the 2020-21 picnic racing season has been nominally rescheduled for Saturday, 28 November at Woolamai.

RV’s Racing Operations team will continue to review and monitor the program through November to see if there are additional changes required for horses impacted by the cancellations.

RV Executive General Manager – Racing, Greg Carpenter, said: “Following discussions with Country Racing Victoria and the race clubs involved, we have made the difficult decision to cancel these three meetings in November.

“The decision to cancel these race meetings has been reached following extensive consultation and has been based on a number of factors including the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would like to thank the Clubs affected for their cooperation and understanding.

“We remain committed to getting the picnic season up and running as soon as it is safe and practical to do so. At this time, we have earmarked the picnic meeting at Woolamai on 28 November and will continue to work closely with CRV on this.”
