Racing Victoria (RV) has today announced a series of changes to the December 2020 racing calendar.
The race meeting scheduled at Seymour on Thursday, 10 December has been transferred to Wodonga.
Discussions remain ongoing between RV, Country Racing Victoria (CRV) and the Seymour Racing Club regarding the Club’s future meetings programmed into 2021.
The night meeting programmed at Cranbourne on Saturday, 12 December will now be run as a day fixture on Sunday, 13 December.
This decision was made in consultation with the Cranbourne Turf Club (CTC) and CRV as a result of the absence of a substantial crowd for a night meeting promoted to Christmas parties.
The Melbourne Racing Club’s twilight meeting on Wednesday, 16 December has been transferred from Sandown to Caulfield with the MRC keen to welcome spectators back to their headquarters.
There has also been a restructure of meetings over the Christmas holiday period to maximise broadcast and wagering opportunities in the absence of capacity crowds.
The changes are as follows:
- The non-TAB Nhill Cup meeting moves from Boxing Day, 26 December to Sunday, 27 December where it will now carry TAB status and be broadcast on Racing.com and SKY Racing 1;
- The non-TAB Kerang meeting moves from Boxing Day, 26 December to the public holiday on Monday, 28 December where it will now carry TAB status and be broadcast on Racing.com and SKY Racing 1; and
- Prizemoney for the popular Autopro Kerang Raceday will be upgraded from the advertised $12,000 per race to $15,000 per race in line with Nhill.
The transfers mean that four race meetings will remain in Victoria on Boxing Day – Caulfield, bet365 Geelong, Penshurst Cup (to be broadcast on SKY Racing 2) and Drouin Cup (picnic).
