Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards today inquired into a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) that a urine sample provided by apprentice jockey Kayla Atkinson after riding trackwork at Caulfield on Monday, 7 December 2020 was found upon analysis to contain substances banned under AR 136.
Ms Atkinson pleaded guilty to two charges which are summarised as follows.
Ms Atkinson pleaded guilty to one charge under AR 139(1)(a) having provided a sample of her urine, which was found upon analysis to contain a banned substance.
Ms Atkinson pleaded guilty to one charge under the provisions of AR139(1)(b).
That being that after riding trackwork on Monday, 7 December 2020 when being directed to provide a urine sample, Ms Atkinson substituted her urine sample on two occasions.
Ms Atkinson was issued a six-month suspension in relation to Charge 1 and a six-month disqualification in relation to Charge 2 with the penalties to be served concurrently.
Ms Atkinson’s penalty will commence on 7 December 2020 (backdated to original stand down date) to expire on 7 June 2021 at which time she can re-apply for a license.
