RV Stewards' Report - Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have received a report from Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) confirming that a prohibited substance has been detected in a post-race urine sample collected from the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr trained racehorse, Zero Doubt.

The report relates to a post-race urine sample taken from Zero Doubt after the gelding won the Hygain Winners Choice BM70 Handicap over 1600 metres at Ballarat Racecourse on 28 April 2021.

RASL reported that the urine sample was shown to contain Lignocaine (a local anaesthetic), and its metabolite 3-Hydroxylignocaine, which are prohibited substances on raceday in accordance with the Australian Rules of Racing.

The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) also reported that it had detected Lignocaine, and its metabolite 3-Hydroxylignocaine, within the reserve portion of the urine sample.

RV Stewards initially informed Mr Price and Mr Kent Jnr of the irregularity on 1 June 2021. They were informed yesterday of the confirmatory findings and that the Stewards are continuing with their investigation
