Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have issued one charge against former licensed jockey Daniel Schmitt following an investigation into a number of bets allegedly placed by Mr Schmitt on thoroughbred horse races between March and December 2020, when he was a licensed jockey.
Mr Schmitt has been charged with breaching AR 115(1)(c) of the Australian Rules of Racing which at all relevant times stated:
AR 115(1) A jockey or apprentice jockey must not:
(c) bet, or have any interest in a bet, or facilitate a bet on any race;
RV Stewards allege that Mr Schmitt made, and/or facilitated, and/or had an interest in the making of, 41 bets on thoroughbred horse races between March 2020 and December 2020.
None of the 41 bets placed were on races that Mr Schmitt rode in.
The charge issued against Mr Schmitt will be heard by the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
