COVID-19 Update

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise of changes to the biosecurity protocols in place in Victoria to allow for the safe continuation of racing and training during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The protocols serve to protect the health of industry staff, participants and the wider Victorian community; maintain 25,000 full-time equivalent jobs; and ensure daily care and exercise can be afforded to all thoroughbred racehorses.

Raceday Attendance Limits

Effective from 11:59pm (AET) on Tuesday, 21 September 2021, limits on the number of stable staff attending race days will be reimposed.

A trainer is permitted to bring a maximum of one staff member per horse to a race meeting, in addition to themself (noting that both trainers may attend the same meeting if in a licensed partnership).

A trainer may bring one additional staff member per stable (not per horse) if that staff member is an essential registered person who is necessary to perform a role on the day.

Regionalisation of Jump-Outs

Effective from 11:59pm (AET) on Tuesday, 21 September 2021, stables based in Metropolitan Melbourne must only attend jump outs in Metropolitan Melbourne, and not Regional Victoria.

Similarly, stables based in Regional Victoria, must not attend jump outs in Metropolitan Melbourne. The LGAs which make up Metropolitan Melbourne can be found on the Victorian Government Coronavirus website available here.
