Cranbourne meeting abandoned due to poor visibility

The meeting at Cranbourne tonight (Friday, 7 January) has been abandoned after four races due to poor visibility caused by heavy rainfall in the afternoon.

Several jockeys riding in race four expressed concern with the deteriorating conditions and sun glare after returning to the mounting yard, and the jockeys with a ride in race five were not comfortable with continuing with the meeting due to poor visibility.

As per Racing Victoria’s policy on abandoned meetings, the connections of all horses due to compete in the remaining four races will receive a compensation fee.

Any trainers with runners affected by the abandonment now have until 4pm (AEDT) Sunday (9 January 2022) for the Caulfield meeting on Wednesday, 12 January 2022.
