Racing Victoria (RV) and the Werribee Racing Club wish to advise that tomorrow’s Spendthrift Australia Park meeting (Saturday, 8 January 2022) has been abandoned due to today’s heavy rainfall.
The track has received 65mm of rain since this morning, including a storm and heavy downpour at 6.30pm tonight.
This has caused internal flooding of critical building infrastructure, including the Stewards’ and Jockeys’ rooms. Other facilities at the racecourse have also experienced serious flooding and will require further assessment tomorrow.
Final acceptors for tomorrow’s meeting will be able to nominate as extended entries until 4pm Sunday (9 January 2022) for the Caulfield meeting on Wednesday, 12 January 2022.
