Cranbourne meeting abandoned after heavy rain

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that tonight’s meeting at Cranbourne Turf Club has been abandoned after five races with the track deemed unsuitable for racing due to torrential rain.

With surface water beginning to form and jockeys expressing concerns over poor visibility, in the interests of participants’ safety RV Stewards abandoned the meeting with four races remaining.

Any horses affected by the abandonment can be entered for races at Warrnambool next Wednesday (4 May) and Thursday (5 May) as extended entries until 4pm this Sunday (1 May).

Any trainers with runners in the last four races at Cranbourne will be entitled to receive a compensation fee under RV’s abandoned meeting policy.
