Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards today concluded their inquiry into the ride of licensed jockey Jamie Kah aboard Let’sfacethemusic in Race 6 at Caulfield (the ive> McNeil Stakes) on Saturday, 31 August 2024.
After obtaining evidence from all relevant persons, the Stewards have issued one charge under AR 129(2) which reads as follows:
AR 129(2) A rider must take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that the rider’s horse is given full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible place in the field.

- Ms Kah failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that Let’sfacethemusic was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field in that:
(a) Between approximately the 175m and approximately the 100m, Ms Kah failed to ride her mount with sufficient vigour or purpose to improve her position between Band of Brothers and Stay Focused where there was sufficient room and when it was reasonable and permissible to do so; and/or
(b) Over approximately the final 75m, Ms Kah failed to ride her mount with sufficient vigour when it was reasonable and permissible to do so.
- Let’sfacethemusic was placed fifth of eight starters beaten 4.56 lengths.
- Ms Kah’s actions as set out in 2(a) and/or 2(b) resulted in Let’sfacethemusic not being given the full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field.
The charge issued against Ms Kah will be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
Under the Rules of Racing, AR129(2) is classified as a Serious Offence.
Section 50O of the Racing Act 1958 (the Racing Act) mandates that if a person has been charged with a Serious Offence, the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) must hear and determine the matter.
As a result, it is not possible for the Stewards to hear and determine this matter.
