Post-Race Scoping: FAQs

Endoscopic examination of the respiratory tract was introduced as part of the routine post-race inspection of horses sent for Official Veterinary Inspections by the Stewards in 2013.

Post-race endoscopy is a valuable tool for identifying many conditions that may adversely affect a horse’s racing performance and / or future health and welfare.

Where facilities are present on course for endoscopy of the upper respiratory tract, it should form part of the routine post-race examination of horses.
