Notice to Trainers: Carbine Chemicals - APVMA Notice to Stop Supply

Racing Victoria (RV) advises all industry participants that the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) issued a notice to Carbine Chemicals Pty Ltd (the Company) on 30 July 2020 in relation to the following unregistered products:

b. Amalgamax

j. Folamax

r. Phoslamax

c. Boostamax

k. Gastrazone

s. Relaxsen

d. Carbalene

l. Haematonic

t. Reload

e. Carbelyte

m. Instant B

u. Stamazene

f. Carbine-E

n. Iron Donor

v. Thiamax

g. Carb-Iron

o. Jetramax

w. Volganic

h. Citramax

p. Ironamax


The notice issued by the APVMA required the Company to immediately stop supply of the listed Products; to immediately notify any person who has possession or custody of the listed Products either directly or indirectly because of a supply by the Company that they must stop supply of the Products and return it to the Company immediately; and take all necessary steps to recover all stocks of the listed Products from any person that the Company has either directly or indirectly supplied the Products to.

Consequently, Trainers are advised to immediately stop the use of any of the abovementioned products and return them to the Company.

Persons in possession of any of the abovementioned products should direct any questions or concerns to the Company in the first instance as follows:

Trainers are reminded of the relevant Australian Rules of Racing in relation to Unregistered Substances:

AR 252 Possession of medication/substance/preparation in breach of legislation

  1. A person must not have in his or her possession or on his or her premises any medication, substance or preparation which has not been registered, labelled, prescribed, dispensed or obtained in accordance with applicable Commonwealth and State legislation.
  2. The Stewards may confiscate any medication, substance or preparation referred to in subrule (1), and use it as evidence in any inquiry, hearing or other proceeding under the Rules.
