A record number of Super VOBIS-nominated lots will be offered at the upcoming Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale which will be held from 9 January 2019.
The sale, held over six days, will include 174 Super VOBIS-nominated lots, up from 137 for the same sale last year.
Owners will be looking to snap up these yearlings on offer, with all eligible for $13 million in bonuses across 840 races each year, along with another $8.5 million if also paid up for the VOBIS Gold owners’ scheme.
A total of 79 yearlings at the upcoming sale are also eligible for the rich VOBIS Sires Scheme which aims to encourage support of Victorian-based stallions and provide those that do invest in their progeny with the opportunity for lucrative returns.
All progeny of VOBIS Sires nominated stallions have the opportunity to race in the $4.45 million VOBIS Gold Premier Race Series which now includes the $1 million ‘The Showdown’ (1200m) for two-year-olds, to be held for the first time at Caulfield next April.
There are a number of exciting prospects listed among the Super VOBIS-nominated lots at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Those of particular note include Lot 801, a colt by Myboycharlie (IRE) from Mine Game, making him a brother to 2016 Caulfield Cup winner Jameka who amassed close to $5 million in prizemoney over her career.
Two other Super VOBIS yearlings to look out for sired by superstar stallion I Am Invincible include Lot 711, a filly out of a half-sister to Master of Design, and Lot 91, a colt out of a half-sister to Brazen Beau.
Yearlings sired by I Am Invincible attracted the top two highest prices at last’s years Gold Coast yearling sale with a colt from Tai Tai Tess, selling for $2 million and a colt from Electric Dreams for $1.9 million.
Reigning Australian stallion of the year Snitzel has a number of progeny on offer at the sale, including a Super VOBIS colt from Bourgogne – a half-sister to Oaks winner Bulla Borghese - who will attract interest as Lot 415.
Boom stallion Written Tycoon has also sired multiple Super VOBIS-nominated yearlings on offer at this year’s sale, with his progeny also eligible for VOBIS Sires. These include a filly from Crystal Ruby (Lot 484), a half-brother to VRC Oaks winner Aristia from Nakaaya (Lot 849) and a sister to Grande Rosso (Lot 697).
Other Super VOBIS lots certain to garner great interest include the half-brother to Magic Millions and Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Sunlight by Sebring (Lot 152) and the Redoute’s Choice half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Yankee Rose (Lot 470).
