Celebrate Australia Day at the races

Saturday’s Australia Day Races at Caulfield is the perfect way to kick off the long weekend. Some of the country’s most talented two-year-olds will start their Blue Diamond campaigns, with the Listed Preview for colts and geldings and the Group 3 equivalent for fillies headlining a quality nine-race card at The Heath.

Australia Day wouldn’t be complete without a good old-fashioned BBQ, so racegoers will be able to tuck in to gourmet Robbins Island Wagyu Brisket and Cape Grim Steak Sandwiches.

With the sun set to shine, Australia Day marks the perfect occasion for the Melbourne Racing Club to unveil its trackside oasis, the Bondi Sands Beach Club.

On the track, jockeys wearing the number one saddlecloth will wear specially-designed Australia Day colours to mark the occasion. The colours will also be worn at the meetings at The Valley on Friday, 25 January, and at Hanging Rock, Balnarring and Yarra Valley on Australia Day.
