Inglis Premier Yearling Sale features premium VOBIS offerings

An “extraordinarily strong’’ Inglis Premier Yearling Sale featuring an array of high-class Super VOBIS-nominated lots will be held at the revamped Oaklands Junction auditorium from 1-3 March, 2020.

A total of 784 lots will be auctioned across the three days, including siblings to the likes of All-Star Mile heroine Mystic Journey, VRC Derby winner Extra Brut and his fellow Group 1 champion Oohood.

According to Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager, Simon Vivian, the quality of offerings at the 2020 sale makes it one of the strongest in living memory.
“We have an outstanding book of yearlings on offer in March,” he said.

“The 2008 sale included Black Caviar, Starspangledbanner, Reward For Effort and one or two other highlights, but in my time at Inglis I don’t know if we’ve ever had a stronger book than this.

“Given the quality of stallions and dams represented and some of the amazingly athletic types they have produced, I’m confident that in years to come people will look back on the 2020 vintage as a standout.”

Vivian has identified some potential stars amongst the Super VOBIS-nominated lots, including a filly by Victoria’s leading stallion Written Tycoon.

Lot 21, chestnut filly by Capitalist out of Always Discreet: “This filly is from one of the most vibrant female families in the Stud Book. It just oozes quality black-type performers. On top of that, she is a stunning individual and could prove to be an outstanding foundation broodmare when her racing days are over.”

Lot 25, bay colt by Teofilo (IRE) out of Andes: “This colt is by one of the world’s best sires, Teofilo, whose progeny include Humidor, Happy Clapper and Palentino. A stunning individual, his dam is by Street Cry, meaning he has all the qualities to be a gun racehorse.”

Lot 107, bay colt by Deep Field out of Contrite Heart: “This magnificent colt from Flinders Park Stud has been reared and destined for the Melbourne Premier Sale. His dam was successful in Sydney, his grandam was a Group winner at Moonee Valley and his sire is making a massive impact.”

Lot 189, bay filly by Zoustar out of Gold Copy: “Lauriston Thoroughbreds will present a stunning filly by Zoustar from a winning three-quarter sister to the champion, Gold Edition. Zoustar is already the sire of the super filly Sunlight, and this filly will light up the Oaklands sales ring.”

Lot 216, bay filly by Capitalist out of Humma Mumma: “Capitalist was Australia’s champion two-year-old and this half-sister to John McArdle’s stakes winning filly Humma Humma will draw massive attention, on both pedigree and conformation.”
