Racing Victoria and Victorian Agricultural Shows Off The Track Show Series
There are currently thousands of retired racehorses succeeding in their post racing lives as show horses. In fact, the majority of show hacks competing at the highest level in Australia are retired racehorses.
The VAS Off The Track Show Horse Series, which is comprised of more than 90 dedicated classes at local agricultural shows across Victoria, is exclusive to retired thoroughbred racehorses and culminates with a lucrative final at the Victorian Agricultural Show (VAS) Saddle Horse Championships in Bendigo each January.
Horses must have competed in an official trial or started in a race, locally, nationally or internationally to be eligible to contest the Off The Track Show Series.
Each class winner will receive $50 prizemoney, an Off The Track sash and a VAS/OTT Prize Pack containing an Off The Track cap and horse brush.
Once a horse has won an Off The Track class they will gain automatic entry into the Off The Track Show Series Final at the Saddle Horse Championships held in January 2018. Qualifiers must enter the Championships under usual entry procedure. Class winners are not able to compete in another VAS Off The Track class for the rest of the season.
The winner of the Off The Track Show Series Final will receive a garland, embroidered rug and $1000 prizemoney. There will also be $500 prizemoney awarded to the runner-up and $500 prizemoney awarded to the Off The Track Newcomer. Any horse contesting the VAS Off The Track Show Series Final is eligible for the OTT Newcomer if they have raced or officially trialled in the two years preceding the date of the Final.
