Today’s Benalla meeting abandoned

Racing Victoria Staff

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the last five races of today’s meeting at Benalla have been abandoned due to concerns over a section of the track.

Following feedback received from jockeys, RV Stewards, club officials and senior jockeys inspected the track near the 650 metre mark, with a section identified as being significantly softer than other areas.

A jockey vote was held, with the decision subsequently taken to abandon the meeting under RV’s raceday track safety inspection procedure.

RV’s racing operations department will review the upcoming program to determine whether any changes are required.

In line with RV’s abandoned policy meeting, the connections of any horses due to run in races three to seven will be paid a compensation fee.
