Hamilton Race Meeting and Jumps Trials transferred

Racing Victoria Staff

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the race meeting scheduled for Hamilton on Sunday, 6 April and the jumps trials on Monday, 7 April have been transferred to Ballarat.

The Hamilton track was inspected yesterday, 10 days ahead of its race meeting as per the new track preparation guidelines for jumps races, and was deemed unsuitable to race.

RV and Hamilton Racing Club (HRC) officials agreed that, following its track renovation, the grass was still juvenile and would require further time to consolidate before it was deemed suitable to host races.

The HRC noted that an extended stretch of dry weather had impacted the track’s recovery from its renovation.

The race meeting on Sunday, 6 April will now be held at Ballarat and conducted on a combination of grass and synthetic tracks.

The three programmed jump races will be run on the grass track with the four flat races conducted on the synthetic track.

The jumps trials scheduled for Monday, 7 April will also be conducted on the Ballarat grass track.
