Digital ticketing platform launched for Victorian owners

Racing Victoria (RV), with the valued support of the Victorian Government, have today launched a new dedicated owners digital ticketing platform which will modernise and enhance the raceday experience for racehorse owners.
The new platform will be accessible via an application (App) available on any mobile or desktop. It will allow owners to access and share their digital ticketing when attending a race meeting at any track in Victoria.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners Association (TROA) and with the support of the Victoria Racing Club (VRC), Melbourne Racing Club (MRC), Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC), Country Racing Victoria (CRV) and Southside Racing.
The project has been realised through a significant investment from the Victorian Government’s Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF) with a focus on supporting owners and encouraging participation in the sport.
The platform will be rolled out in two stages across the 2025-26 season with registered owners to receive direct communication from RV over the next fortnight on how to access their digital ticketing throughout the various phases.
Phase 1 – Digital Victorian Owner Gold Card for racecourse access
Upon receipt of their direct communication from RV, owners will be able to access the platform to obtain a digital copy of their Victorian Owner Gold Card for immediate use.
Digital Victorian Owner Gold Cards can be added to the wallet of mobile phones and used by owners with a horse competing at a race meeting to obtain racecourse admission at all tracks across Victoria.
The digital pass can also be utilised by owners for racecourse access at most non-feature race meetings throughout the state even when they don’t have a horse competing at that race meeting.
This ensures that owners will permanently have their pass with them on their phone, providing seamless and efficient racecourse entry prior to collecting any additional raceday ticketing ahead of phase two.
Phase 2 – All raceday yard and hospitality entitlements via the new App
Following the 2025 Spring Racing Carnival, the full integration of raceday ticketing will allow owners to log in to access and share their digital admission, members’ reserve and mounting yard tickets, plus hospitality entitlements.
When fully operational, owners will receive in-App notifications to inform them when tickets are available in the lead-up to a raceday from which they can share them via a number of methods including SMS, email and WhatsApp.
Quotes attributable to RV Chief Executive, Aaron Morrison
“A centralised digital ticketing platform is an important step forward for racehorse owners and will significantly improve and simplify their raceday experience when fully operational.
“We look forward to rolling out this initiative throughout the 2025-26 season knowing it will help standardise the owners ticketing redemption process across our Clubs which will benefit owners.
“I want to thank Minister Carbines and the Victorian Government for their valuable support through VRIF, acknowledge TROA for their passion for this initiative and thank our Clubs for their support to date and through the upcoming rollout.”
Quotes attributable to the Minister for Racing, Hon. Anthony Carbines MP
“This investment is for the 70,000 people who currently support our industry through racehorse ownership which ultimately funds the care of horses and fuels jobs.
“Owners are among the most passionate people that you will meet at a racetrack, and this initiative will provide them with a better experience, whilst also helping our Clubs.
“Victorian thoroughbred racing is a leader generating $3.4 billion for the Victorian economy each year and we’re investing in it to ensure that it remains a vibrant contributor to our state.”
Quotes attributable to TROA Chairman, Jonathon Munz
“TROA has been championing the need for digital ticketing for racehorse owners for a number of years. This will streamline the collection and use of raceday owner entitlements, providing owners with a frictionless and easy-to-use system in both the lead up to, and on the day of, their horse running.
“An owner of a horse gets free entry to the racecourse, members enclosure and mounting yard on the day their horse runs and when this new system is fully operational, they will have those entitlements sent to their phone and no longer be required to queue for or be sent physical paper tickets. They will also be able to re-send those tickets digitally by text or email to family, colleagues and friends.”
