Today’s Hamilton meeting abandoned

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that today’s meeting at Hamilton has been abandoned owing to a burst water pipe at the 300m mark.
Racecourse staff inspected the track prior to 7am this morning and discovered a significant amount of surface water around the 300m mark due to a water pipe which had burst overnight.
Trainers engaged at the meeting were then notified prior to 7.30am that an inspection by RV Stewards would occur at 8am.
The subsequent inspection found the track unsuitable for racing with Stewards abandoning the meeting at 8am.
Trainers affected by the abandonment can nominate as normal entries for the Saturday 13 December meetings at Stawell and Healesville until 12pm today and as extended entries for the Friday 12 December meetings at Geelong and Cranbourne until 4pm today.
RV’s racing operations department will review the upcoming program to determine whether any further changes are required.
RV and the Club will liaise on the next steps to repair the pipe and to finalise a plan to have the track in a suitable condition for the next meeting on 6 January.
