Race times adjusted for Saturday's meetings

Racing Victoria (RV) wishes to advise that the race meeting scheduled for Caulfield on Saturday (24 January) has been brought forward due to the forecasted hot weather.

The 10-race meeting will now commence at 11:20am and conclude at 4.25pm to avoid the hottest part of the day. Importantly, this also reduces the length of the day by 15 minutes as a 35 and 40 minute gap at the end of the day are replaced by 30 minute gaps at the start of the day.

In accordance with RV’s Procedure for Racing in Hot Weather Policy, the time a horse is required to arrive on course will be reduced to an hour prior to their intended race time. Additionally, the time horses are required to spend in the mounting yard will be reduced and extra cooling stations will be provided in horse specific areas.

With acceptances closing today for Saturday’s other meetings at Great Western and Yea, which feature their respective country cups, race times have also been brought forward from their provisional schedules. Great Western will now commence at 11:31am and conclude at 3:26pm, while Yea will commence at 12:06pm and finish at 3pm.

RV wishes to acknowledge and thank the Melbourne Racing Club, Great Western Racing Club and Yea Racing Club for their assistance in making these important changes.

RV’s Procedure for Racing in Hot Weather Policy is enacted at meetings where hot weather is predicted to ensure the health and wellbeing of horses and participants.

Saturday, 24 January - Caulfield

  • Race 1: 11:20am AEDT
  • Race 2: 11.50am AEDT
  • Race 3: 12:20pm AEDT
  • Race 4: 12:50pm AEDT
  • Race 5: 1:25pm AEDT
  • Race 6: 2.00pm AEDT
  • Race 7: 2:35pm AEDT
  • Race 8: 3.10pm AEDT
  • Race 9: 3.45pm AEDT
  • Race 10: 4.25pm AEDT

Saturday, 24 January – Great Western

  • Race 1: 11:31am AEDT
  • Race 2: 12:01pm AEDT
  • Race 3: 12:31pm AEDT
