RV Stewards' Report - Travis Doudle

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards, subsequent to their investigation, have issued the following charge against Mr. Travis Doudle, pursuant to Australian Rule of Racing 240(2) as the trainer of ‘Empirestateofmind’ (the Horse) which won Race 3 at Mildura Racecourse on 25 May 2025.
Charge: AR 240 Prohibited substance in sample taken from horse at race meeting:

(2) Subject to subrule (3), if a horse is brought to a racecourse for the purpose of participating in a race and a prohibited substance on Prohibited List A and/or Prohibited List B is detected in a sample taken from the horse prior to or following its running in any race, the trainer and any other person who was in charge of the horse at any relevant time breaches these Australian Rules.

A summary of the particulars of the charge is as follows:
1. On 25 May 2025, the Horse was presented to the Mildura Racecourse where it raced and won Race 3, the Mildura Volkswagen Amarok Maiden Plate over 2000 metres (the Race).
2. On 25 May 2025, a post-race urine sample (R035768) was taken from the Horse (the Sample).
3. An analysis of the sample detected the presence of Salicylic Acid at a mass concentration level greater than 750milligrams.
4. Salicylic Acid is a prohibited substances pursuant to Division 3 of Part 2 of Schedule 1 (Prohibited list B) of the Australian Rules of Racing.
The presence of Salicylic Acid was detected in the sample by Racing Analytical Service Limited and in the reserve sample by the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory
Salicylic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent. It has analgesic, anti-pyretic (fever suppression) and anti-thrombotic (reduction of blood clot formation) properties.
The charge issued against Mr Doudle. will be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
