Racing Victoria (RV), following consultation with Country Racing Victoria and the Echuca Racing Club, advise of an adjustment to Echuca’s schedule in late-2026 to allow upgrades to occur to its course proper.
The Club has advised that they are seeking to commit to upgrading the Echuca course proper at some stage over the next six months. These upgrades aim to have the surface in optimal condition throughout 2027.
Accordingly, it has been decided that works will commence after the Club’s 2026 Melbourne Cup Day meeting on Tuesday, 3 November, resulting in a schedule adjustment that will see the 2026 New Year’s Eve meeting on Thursday, 31 December not run at Echuca.
Echuca will return to racing at their flagship Echuca Cup Day meeting on Sunday, 7 March 2027.
Victoria’s racing schedule over the 2026 Christmas holiday period includes a number of race meetings in the region which was a key consideration in RV’s decision not to transfer the Echuca meeting to an alternate venue.
RV’s Racing Operations team will assess the schedule over that period and make decisions on dividing races as required.
RV will also explore options for transferring Echuca’s scheduled jumpouts on 7 January and 27 January 2027 with alternate venues to be confirmed at a later date.
