A “Win-Win” for Racing as Media Rights Partnership Renews to 2030

Racing SA and Racing Victoria have extended their longstanding media rights partnership for a further four years, securing the continued broadcast of South Australian thoroughbred racing on Racing.com through to 2030.
The extension also sees Racing Victoria - through its media arm, RVL Media - hold the exclusive media rights to South Australian thoroughbred racing across Australia and internationally.
The renewed agreement provides important long-term certainty for the South Australian thoroughbred racing industry and builds on a successful partnership that began when racing from the state was first broadcast on Racing.com in 2017.
Under the agreement, South Australian thoroughbred race meetings will continue to receive year-round coverage across Racing.com's free-to-air television (broadcast on the Seven Network’s Channel 78/68) and digital platforms, taking the state's racing to fans throughout Australia.
The partnership will also deliver greater integration and sharing of content showcasing South Australia's horses, participants, clubs and communities, alongside the continuation of the popular Get On SA program.
Racing SA CEO Nick Bawden said the extension reflected the strength of the relationship between Racing SA and Racing Victoria, including its media arm, Racing.com Media, and the value the partnership had delivered over almost a decade.
"This agreement provides valuable long-term certainty for our industry and ensures South Australian racing remains accessible to a broad national audience," Bawden said.
"Since 2017, Racing.com has helped us showcase not only the quality of our racing, but also the horses, people, clubs and communities that make our South Australian industry unique.
"The partnership gives our race meetings consistent, high-quality coverage throughout the year, while creating greater opportunities to share South Australian racing stories with audiences across the country.
"We're delighted to extend that relationship through to 2030 and to continue building the profile and reach of South Australian racing together."
The renewal also reflects Racing Victoria's role as a trusted manager and distributor of racing media rights beyond its own product, with RVL Media now responsible for commercialising and distributing South Australian thoroughbred racing rights both domestically and internationally.
Racing Victoria CEO Aaron Morrison said South Australian thoroughbred racing had become an important part of Racing.com's coverage.
"We're pleased to extend our partnership with South Australian racing, which has become a staple of the Racing.com broadcast alongside our core Victorian racing coverage," Morrison said.
"This renewal is a vote of confidence in our media business, which includes Australia's only 24/7 free-to-air sporting channel and delivers the widest distribution of racing content across multiple platforms domestically and internationally.
"This partnership takes South Australian racing to a broad national audience, while ensuring Victorian racing is showcased daily to South Australian audiences. It's a win-win for both states."
RVL Media will also sublicense live streaming of South Australian thoroughbred racing to wagering operators’ digital platforms.
In parallel with the extension, RVL Media and Sky Racing have reached an agreement that will ensure South Australian racing continues to be broadcast on Sky Racing 1 and 2, into Tabcorp’s network of 3,300 commercial venues and to Sky’s digital wagering operator partners.
The combined arrangements secure extensive domestic coverage and the continued international distribution of South Australian racing into New Zealand and Hong Kong, and more broadly through Sky Racing’s international distribution network.
Tabcorp Chief Commercial and Media Officer Jarrod Villani said:
“SKY is thrilled to continue broadcasting and promoting racing into pubs, clubs and homes across Australia and internationally until at least 2030. We broadcast over 150,000 live races each year into more than 60 countries, and we look forward to working with Racing Victoria and Racing SA to grow our international footprint,” he said.
