Darren Gauci - Apprentice Jockey Coach (Racing Victoria)
Darren joins the AJTP in 2017, having recently retired from a glittering career as a jockey. In a riding career spanning more than three decades, Darren won more than 2500 races, including 35 Group 1 victories. An outstanding apprentice himself that still holds the Australian record of 506 wins during his riding apprenticeship, Darren is passionate about assisting the development of Victoria’s next generation of top jockeys.
Alf Matthews - Apprentice Jockey Coach (Racing Victoria)
Alf completed his jockey apprenticeship in 1977, was a professional jockey for 23 years; which included riding internationally and retired in 2000. Alf worked as Sky Channel host and has acted as advocate for jockeys at appeals. A specialist in race riding analysis and tactics Alf‘s experience is a great addition to the program.
Ron Hall - Jockey Wellbeing and Safety Officer (Racing Victoria)
Ron completed his jockey apprenticeship and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, and has over 20 years extensive experience across track work riding, race riding, stable management and horse training. Ron also mentors the apprentices and provides support in the transition from apprentice to jockey.
Lisa Hocking - Workforce Capability Manager (Racing Victoria)

Lisa is the manager of the Apprentice Jockey Training Program. She has extensive consulting and education experience across many industries and specifically in Racing, Equine and Sport having previously held management and operational roles in Racing Victoria. She has been a Teacher and Learning Designer in TAFE and Higher Education, is an Accredited Equestrian Coach and participated on youth development programs and managed Equestrian teams and events.

Dr Lisa Stevens - Sports Performance
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) Honours and a Master of Applied Psychology (Sport). Lisa is also registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), member of the College of Sport and Exercise Psychology (CoSEP), member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and member of the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP)

Lisa is a former Australian Champion and NCAS coach and has been the sport psychology consultant for a number of elite sporting clubs, institutes and organisations including the following: Racing Victoria, Victorian Jockey Association, Victoria Institute of Sport, Swimming Australian, Women’s Artistic Gymnastic High Performance Centre, AFLPA, Geelong Football Club, Carlton Football Club and Western Bulldogs Football Club.

Helen is the founder of Physio4athletes clinic, Melbourne. Helen is a titled Sports Physiotherapist with a Bachelor of Applied Science, Physio; Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy and a PhD in Sports Injury Risk. Helen has over 25 years of private practice experience and sports coverage work including Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Helen currently consults to RVL AJP, Swimming Australia High Performance and Malaysian Track cycling.
