HR Assist advisors are knowledgeable on employment law, and can tell you what the law states and how it applies to your situation. They can suggest next steps in resolving matters and can, with your permission, contact the other party to assist in resolving the issue. 

Frequently arising issues include the correct payment of wages and allowances, working conditions such as rostering, workplace harassment, bullying, performance management and termination of employment.

HR Assist will consider the circumstances and let you know what the law says. For instance, if you think you are being bullied, they will tell you what the law defines and bullying and provide you with some directions about the next steps.

The advisors at HR Assist will not provide advice beyond complying with employment laws. They can provide advice up until the point where they matter requires more detailed complex legal advice or representation, for instance an unfair dismissal action. They will tell you seek your own legal counsel and advice at this stage.

HR Assist advice will be provided verbally to you. If the advice is complex, and you need it to be in writing, you may request it to be emailed to you.

HR Assist enables you to three free advisory sessions, or up to 60 minutes in total time.

No, HR Assist is only an advisory service. If you want a matter investigated, please report it to Racing Victoria via participantprotection@racingvictoria.net.au or 0428 413 935, or to relevant regulatory bodies such as the Fair Work Ombudsman. 

HR Assist is the name of the industry’s advice service on employment matters. iHR is contracted by RV to provide the service to industry participants.

The information you share with HR Assist is a private matter between you and iHR, and will not be reported to RV. RV will only receive a monthly report which covers service usage, time spent on each matter, the type of matter and user details such as employer/employee and occupation. The report will not contain any identifying information.

Understanding areas such as usage rates and the type of issues raised informs future assistance offerings, education and prevention programs in the employment law space. 

Yes, if HR Assist becomes aware of serious participant and/or equine welfare matters, or other issues which pose a major reputational risk to racing in Victoria.
