RV announces National Show Horse Championship

Retired racehorses will take centre stage this month as they contest the Off the Track National Show Horse Series Championship sponsored by Godolphin.

Racing Victoria (RV) and the Show Horse Council of Victoria (SHCV) are excited to announce that the unique event will be held on Saturday 26 November 2016 as part of the SHCV All States Showdown at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.

The event is exclusive to retired thoroughbred racehorses that have competed in an official trial or started in a race, locally, nationally or internationally and invitations for the National Championship have been issued to the riders of horses that have competed successfully in their respective Off the Track state final.

Horse and rider combinations from Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland will contest the event, which will be co-judged by experts from both the show horse and racing industries.

Godolphin, the global thoroughbred breeding and horseracing stable founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, is the major sponsor of the Off the Track National Show Horse Series Championship which will offer a lucrative prize pool as an incentive for riders and horses from across the country, including $2500 cash to the winner of the class, making it one of the richest show horse classes in the country.

All riders competing in the event will receive an exclusive Off the Track prize pack including a personalised state team rug, branded saddle blankets and other merchandise. The event, which is an outstanding opportunity to promote the great qualities of the thoroughbred, will be co-judged by experts from both the show horse and racing industries.

Further details about the event, including the line-up of horses and riders representing each state, will be available in the coming weeks.
